Head of Data Engineering - Adtech Industry - New York - remote


A leading analytics and research platform that provides brands, agencies, and publishers with tools and insights to enhance the effectiveness of their audio campaigns. With headquarters in NYC and global operations, our company is backed by some of the most prolific VCs in the world. They are an established start-up at the forefront of audio's meteoric growth, and our team is rapidly expanding.


They are seeking an experienced individual who has managed and executed technical roadmaps, preferably in startup environments. You should have experience with Agile development methodologies, a proven track record of successful cross-functional collaboration, and a background in Adtech/Martech, particularly analytics.


As the Head of Data Engineering, you will lead, manage, and mentor a passionate and motivated engineering team. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to define technical requirements and limitations for product initiatives. Your responsibility will encompass building, deploying, and maintaining mission-critical analytics solutions that can process data quickly at big data scale. You'll also be responsible for building and architecting large-scale data systems.


Head of Data Engineering requires:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with Python
  • Experience with Big Data technologies such as MapReduce, PySpark, Presto, Snowflake, Redis
  • Knowledge of Cloud Native (Container-based) Orchestration


Data engineering Tech Stack:

  • Extensive use of AWS, particularly for compute and storage
  • Frontend: VueJS, NodeJS
  • Backend: MongoDB, Python, PySpark, Dask


**Nice to Haves**

  • Experience with building GDPR/CCPA compliant architecture and systems
  • Familiarity with best practices for security, SDLC, and SOC2
  • Exposure to machine learning frameworks
