Engineering Manager / CTO (DeFi)

Our client, a group of experienced DeFi-native developers, is seeking a talented individual to manage their engineering team as they continue to grow. This 100% remote role comes with flexible working hours aligned with US time zones, and the potential for Co-Founder-Level impact on the growth trajectory of a DeFi protocol, with the opportunity to rise to CTO. As an Engineering Manager for a DeFi startup, you'll be responsible for leading your team towards success. While overseeing the team of developers, you will need to ensure that the engineering team is capable of accomplishing projects on time and within budget while being aligned with company goals.

In addition to the current responsibilities of a Engineering Manager/CTO, you will also need to:

• Manage and mentor software engineers, assigning tasks and providing guidance to ensure that the project milestones are met.
• Monitor project progress, anticipate roadblocks, and provide solutions to ensure deliverables are completed in a timely fashion.
• Advocate for the engineering team by coordinating with cross-functional teams, identifying opportunities for collaboration and managing inter-team dependencies.
• Work with the product team to interpret their vision and turn it into technical requirements that can be implemented and delivered on time.
• Lead by example to ensure quality coding practices and design patterns are upheld.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• 8+ years of experience in software development, with knowledge in high-performance backend infrastructure, as well as 2+ years in DeFi space, specifically writing, testing, and deploying smart contracts using Solidity.
• Proven experience managing, mentoring, and coaching a team of software engineers, as well as building and maintaining the software infrastructure.
• Knowledge of serverless solutions, query optimization and basic DevOps practices.
• Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills, and the drive to constantly learn, investigate and think innovatively.
• Ability to understand trade-offs and conflicting goals and make decisions that best align with the customer's needs and product team’s vision.

A Financial background, or being DeFi-native can be considered a bonus.
